What are the different domain names?

We get askes this question a lot, exactly what are the different domain names? Well, there are a VAST amount of suffixes available these days, but, regardless of that, all domains function in the same way. They are simply a user friendly name that literally translates to a numerical address of a web servers. That’s it in its simplest form, the only difference is in the suffix.
The two major styles of suffix are the top level domains (TLD’s) which you will know as .com, .net and .org etc and as well as that, the country specific domain names such as .co.uk for UK websites or .cz for websites located in Czech Republic - and so on. There are a LOT of country suffixes, too many too list but whilst they are different domain names and different suffixes, they all work in exactly the same way.
Some countries reserve domain names for use for business located ONLY in that specific country i.e. businesses who reside in the same country as the domain name. There are however some country specific domain names that can be registered by anyone, anywhere.
