What Is Shared Web Hosting?

Shared vps hosting is easily the most popular type of hosting available on the market today. In essence, you share a Web server with dozens, or even hundreds of other webmasters simultaneously.
In most cases, you also share a block of IP addresses, or maybe even an exact IP address with one or more other webmasters. When you purchase a conventional cheap web hosting plan, there is a very high chance that it is a shared web hosting plan. Although shared web hosting is the cheapest type, is also the most unreliable and has the most downfalls. Thus, shared web hosting is not recommended for professional webmasters that have more than 5 to 10 websites.
Shared web hosting is however perfect for novice webmasters that are just starting their online endeavors. In fact, most webmasters start with a shared web hosting plan before progressing to other types of hosting such as VPS or dedicated. The average cost of a shared web hosting plan ranges from $3-$9 per month, depending on the hosting provider and the capabilities of the plan itself. Although shared web hosting comes with its downfalls, it does provide all the basic tools and resources needed to build, manage, and operate basic websites.
