Windows hosting options from webhosting.uk.com

Posted on 17. Nov, 2009 by admin in General

There are quite a few options out there these days when it comes to web hosting. Once you’ve decided what sort of server package you want i.e. shared, reseller, VPS hosting or dedicated server, you must then decide which operating system you want to use on it.

For the most part, both of the popular operating systems, both Windows and Linux will run the average website just fine, with no issues. The difference is however in the software that will be installed on the OS. Both Linux and Windows hosting have their own set of control panels and applications for facilitating the management of your website. The languages used on each system differ also with most PHP developers opting for Linux based systems and most ASP or .NET developers having to choose Windows hosting.

If you’re not looking to develop websites then the difference in operating system is negligible, just choose what you feel comfortable in using. If you’re after the extra reliability, I’d opt for Linux but Windows hosting is more than capable of running your website. You may find however that some software applications you’re used to on previous servers are not compatible with windows based web hosting solutions.
